Moldavite is a tektite which is found in Czechoslovakia. It's formation is the consequence of a meteor event which took place 15 million years ago. Upon impact molten hot debris was cast back up into the atmosphere were it quickly cooled and returned to the earth. It is one of the rarest forms of tektite and is the only known "gem quality" stone of extra-terrestrial origin, sought after for it's deep emerald green color and crisp clarity.
