Raven's Hot Volcanic Hand Carved 3"+ Porphyry Crystal Skull

The very unusual skull that I am offering here is a hand carved Porphyry Stone skull!

This dramatic stone comes from remote northern Ontario, Canada. It is a type of igneous conglomerate which involves large-grained white feldspar crystals within a darker mixture of Quartz, Mica, Amphibole, and Pyroxene. It is of volcanic origin, as it forms inside magma chambers. Porphyry is a relative of Flowerstone, Chrysanthemum Stone, and Chinese Writing Stone.

It measures 3-1/8 inches long and weighs in at precisely .80 lb. It exhibits very well defined detailing and features, including Raven's trademark hollowed-out cheekbones and jaw. A nice smooth glossy polish gives this skull a lovely feel in the hands.

Metaphysically, the Symbol of the Skull represents The Higher Mind. To attain the higher mind of spiritual awareness and psychic ability we must be released from the thrall of the lower cognitive mind. The Skull also symbolizes Change, which is truly the great healer of all situations, conditions, and troubles. Without Change in our lives, we do not spiritually grow.
