It was a part of Raven & Ravenia’s personal collection.

Without any doubt, this is an awesome piece!

Libyan Desert Glass is a natural glass composed of nearly pure silica (approx. 98%). Because of its unusual composition, the formation of this glass had for a long time been considered mysterious. Chemical analyses show that the glass is locally enriched in meteoritic elements, with typical chondritic proportions. The only explanation for these observations is that Libyan Desert Glass results from a meteorite impact on a silica-rich target. Making Libyan Desert glass a Tektite very similar in fromation to Moldavite. This material is found in the Libyan Desert, also known as Great Sand Sea or Western Desert. An African desert that is located in the northern and eastern part of the Sahara Desert and occupies southwestern Egypt, eastern Libya, and northwestern Sudan.
